Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club is part of an eponymous property development that took over the site of the Westwood Motorsport Park on the southern slopes of Eagle Mountain. WPGCC is located off Plateau Boulevard, only around 4 kilometres or a six-minute drive from downtown Coquitlam.
The country club’s golf links was designed by American golf course architect Michael Hurdzan, noted for his environment-friendly approach. The course opened in 1995 and was immediately named by Golf Digest as the runner-up for Best New Course in Canada that year. The Westwood Plateau layout next won SCOREGolf Magazine’s nod as the Best New Course in Canada in 1996.
Golfers have two playing options at WPGCC, with the 18-hole Country Club course as the main choice. A public course, this layout plays par 72 over 6,770 yards from its longest tees and sports a 72.1 course rating and a 137 slope rating.
This course is open from April to October and offers a tour that Golf Digest describes as “the best game in town.” A round in this course takes golfers along fairways with breathtaking vistas of Eagle Mountain, massive granite rock cliffs, and rugged ravines onwards top-of-the-world greens.
WPGC’s other playing option is its tamer 9-hole executive course—the Golf Academy. Playable under 3 hours, this layout teases at par 31 over 1,805 yards also woven on a backdrop of spectacular mountain views. After a short game at this course, golfers can relax at its Fairways Grill & Patio.
In addition to its two wonderful golf links, WPGCC provides two private room golf simulators, a driving range, teaching pros and a full size pro shop. Other country club offerings include a 35,000-square-foot clubhouse with varied menu choices and personalised services at its Après Kitchen & Bar. Exclusive gatherings can also be arranged at the country club’s three private banquet rooms.
