Why We’re Here

All of our staff are here because they believe in our core values, and have a passion for neurorehabilitation.

create a client directed experience
find a better way
respect and value people

Abilities Neurological Rehabilitation does not base treatment on one treatment principle alone. We utilize your goals, matched to the lastest in evidence-based treatment options to provide the most beneficial outcome. The approach used will vary depending on the individual, their symptoms and their goals. The friendly and caring approach taken by our therapists, certified orthotist and assistants, along with their extensive previous experience with neurological disorders, means that you can be confident that you are receiving treatment of the highest quality.

Our History

Clinic Director and Owner Heather Branscombe is a physiotherapist with over 15 years experience in both the public and private sector. As a mom of three (with one child with cerebral palsy), Heather has a unique perspective and passion that drove her to open the first clinic in October of 2007. She could see the need for increased access to high quality and evidenced based rehabilitation services delivered within the context of a team.

Heather’s professional passion continues to be the integration of rehabilitation technology into practice. She has consulted as a clinical specialist to a rehabilitation technology company and has taught therapists, orthotists and physicians across Canada. Not afraid to be an innovator and pioneer, she has brought many emerging technologies and therapy practices to Canada through Abilities.

Heather and Abilities are now seen within the industry as a community partner in emerging therapies.

Often asked to collaborate on research initiatives, she is involved in research projects with the University of British Columbia (FEATHER’s project) and has been asked to be the exclusive BC provider of emerging therapy practice such as the telemedicine driven ReJoyce through rehabtronics.

Professionally, Heather volunteers her time as a member of the Board of Directors for the Stroke Recovery Association of B.C. and is the past-chair of the Neurosciences Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, running and the beautiful outdoors.
